About Farmington River Regional
Farmington River has piloted several high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), including Wit & Wisdom and Into Reading, and adopted Heggerty and Fundations to strengthen foundational skills. The recent decision to implement Into Reading across grades K–5 signals a growing commitment to evidence-based instruction and structured supports in the early grades.
Through its participation in the MA DESE Early Literacy Institute, the district is shaping a more coherent instructional vision and laying the foundation for a formal MTSS structure. Teachers are deeply committed to improving reading outcomes and have expressed a need for a unified curriculum and more targeted professional learning.
As the district moves toward full HQIM implementation, it is also working to strengthen data practices, clarify intervention roles, and expand support for educators. With growing alignment around Tier 1-first instruction and equity-driven decision-making, Farmington River is well positioned to advance sustainable early literacy growth.
