About Gateway Regional

Gateway has adopted Amplify CKLA in grades K–3 as its High-Quality Instructional Material, supported by i-Ready and DIBELS assessments. Through its Literacy Action Plan—developed via the MA DESE Literacy Institute—the district has unified leaders and educators around a shared goal: ensuring all students become confident, proficient readers by the end of grade 3.

Professional learning is tightly aligned with curriculum and data practices, and foundational skills instruction is becoming more consistent across classrooms. Early signs of impact are emerging, with measurable gains in both student outcomes and instructional coherence at Chester and Littleville Elementary Schools.

District leaders are building sustainable MTSS systems, expanding job-embedded supports, and layering intervention over strong Tier 1 instruction. As Gateway refines progress monitoring and clarifies support roles, it is also centering teacher voice in its continuous improvement efforts. Together, these strategies form a coordinated, equity-driven approach—offering a promising model for advancing early literacy in rural communities.
