The Partnership for Reading Success – Massachusetts (PRISM) I is an ambitious, multi-year initiative aimed at transforming early literacy outcomes in grades PreK–3 through an evidence-based, culturally and linguistically sustaining approach. Designed to equip schools with the tools, training, and support needed to implement a strong Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for literacy, PRISM I is now well underway.
Over the past six months, participating districts and charter schools have laid a strong foundation for long-term success. Each LEA formed a dedicated PRISM Leadership Team, supported by a Leadership Coach. With their coach’s guidance, teams conducted a Literacy Systems Scan to assess local strengths and opportunities, revisited or crafted a shared early literacy vision, strengthened community partnerships with local preschool providers, and began developing a multi-year implementation plan tailored to their local context.
Now, with that groundwork complete, the next phase begins. PRISM I communities are moving forward with plans that reflect their unique needs, challenges, and goals.
As the work deepens, each district’s journey will look a little different—but all are connected by a shared commitment to early literacy, equity, and sustainable systems change. PRISM I is not just a program; it’s a movement to ensure every child in Massachusetts has the opportunity to thrive through literacy.
